A Magister Falls

Vordekai had fallen and Kalladar found himself once again in Stagfell. Some things had turned out better than he had hoped. The technique used to restore Raam had been successful and he was Baron once again. There had been brief turmoil at home while they were on the path to Vordekai, however, Balian’s wife and Valora were instrumental in maintaining the feeling that the Baron was still there.

Raam had graciously invited those from his inner circle to be Lords of the Kingdom. Kalladar readily agreed and immediately thought of the Elven fortress discovered in the East as a base of operations. He recommended to Raam that this would be a good location to build an Academy, so any magical mishap would not endanger the capital.

During the next two months, Kalladar and Tzim visited different locations in the Kingdom for possible plans for expansion. During the first visit to Aradel, as the fortress was originally called, that he decided to build a small shrine to Desna and asked for a sign. He visited again later in the week. Something nagged at him the first time and he felt he was being stalked. He knelt at the shrine. Mip cried a warning as a Drow Assassin appeared.

Kal fired a spell and jumped across the battlefield. Kal found himself slow to move and another Drow easily struck him with a dagger containing Purple worm poison. Kalladar struggled to get up and did a quick move across the battlefield. Strength failing, he fell to the ground. He found he was looking at the face of the first Drow, dead from his spell. He heard sounds of battle and mip yelling his name. Tendrils of Shadow dragged him into darkness.
