Azam has been with Tzim since a young age. Azam and Tzim believe that due to their linked souls Azam has been reduced from her former glory to accomodate their shared soul. If Azam were to bring her full power to bear it may destroy Tzim and herself. As she has an invested interest in keeping Tzim alive she is overly protective but also very assertive that Tzim be his own man and become stronger so that she may as well.
Azam would have followed Tzim had she not been bound however as he always seems to have a knack for getting her into some of the fierciest battles she can remember. A fact she finds very alluring.
