وهذا هو الشر من الليل
"This is the evil of the night. This is what happens when you turn away from the sun!" The captain of the Yellow Suns yelled over the crowd that had gathered around the pyre. The vampire had been tied to the wooden post, his lips stitched back exposing the enlongated incisors. "Sarenrae is the sun, she is our protection from such evil. She is the fire that holds the night at bay. The fire that purifies evil." The captain lit the pyre and the vampire went up in flames.
هتف الحشد وامكن سماع اصوات قليلة لسلم إلهة أحد
The crowd cheered and a few blessings to the sun goddess could be heard. "Go now," the captain continued, "and know that the Dawnflower watches over you." The captain ordered his men to pass out the small wooden trinkets carved into the likeness of Sarenrae. A few in the crowd accepted the symbol of faith and whispered a prayer to the goddess. But for every person who accepted the gift, there were five who shook their head or just stuffed the trinket in their pocket.
وكان لا يزال غير متأكد من الكابتن ما حدث الليلة الماضية.
The captain was still unsure of what happened last night. The Lords of Stagfell were quick to rush out of town after the encounter with the vampire, so the captain had doubled the watch until they returned. The captain had called to the dawnflower and his faith was answered in the light spells he was able to provide for the watch. The divine show impressed the yellow hands, as they had only before seen Lord Zuhair and Master Akiros perform such feats.
وكان قد ذهب إلى مدينة الاضطرابات مع شائعات عن مصاصي الدماء والشياطين
Stagfell had gone into unrest with rumors of vampires and demons, so the captain had prepared the little show to put the people's fear to rest. As the captain saw it, if there was one vampire, there could easily be two. The flames continued to lick the bones of the vampire. I'll keep the watch doubled until Lord Zuhair returns.
